Today we sat outside for a while in our small front garden. It's great because everyone passes and chats. Mrs Jones tells us about her son teaching English in Japan, total strangers ask what feed we use for our pansies. Anyway today some neighbours…

I got a bean plant from CCA back in May. It has grown so much in the last month and a bit and has beautiful Orange flowers now. No beans yet but i'm just happy it's still alive, three different flats and it's still alive.

WHAT IS SOIL EXCHANGE?

'soil exchange' is a project in which international participants share art, ideas, information and more with other people in other places.

Where do you stand?

Launched in June 2009, soil exchange exists to make connections between people, to open discussion and debate on issues relating to our environment, our country and our connection to the earth beneath our feet.

At a time of such disconnection, soil exchange aims to break down boundaries to build meaningful connections between people.

Participants are encouraged to exchange with other users in another part of the world and create content to share online and by post. The idea is to make connections across borders and engage in dialogue with other members on the issues raised. Members use photographs, video content, postcards, interesting events and blog entries to stay in touch with other exchangers. There are no limits on how many times users can exchange or with how many people.

Have a look round to see some of the ideas already being exchanged!

EXCHANGE event feedback

Thank you to all the people who made it down to the exchange event on Friday night at the CCA in Glasgow. It was a great success and it was a lovely atmosphere that was created in the room too. We are in the process of getting all the documentation together as there were lots of pictures taken and it was filmed too...

We just wanted to ask those who attended the night if they had any feedback that we could put into the mix for the next EXCHANGE. It is not designed to be a regular thing yet but… Continue

Scottish parliament agrees tougher 42% target to cut emissions

Campaigners say 'hugely significant' vote to cut emissions by 42% by 2020 sets new 'moral' standard for the rest of the industrialised world

Scotland has set itself the world's most ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets after the Scottish parliament voted today to cut the nation's CO2 emissions by 42% by 2020.

In a rare show of unity, all political parties at Holyrood unanimously agreed to fix the target as part of a radical climate change bill which also requires the Scottish gov… Continue

Exchanging Stories

I've been thinking about place, and how place is created through our interaction with it and the stories we tell about it. I've been thinking about how we come into being through our relations with others. I’ve been thinking about how we create landscape/place, and how landscape/place creates us.

Perhaps it's about, remembering what makes us who we are and what we are so intimately part of – people, places, the landscape, the environment…

As part of the event on Friday in Glasgow, I propose a… Continue

PROJECT: STONE EXCHANGE

We received this email from Regine in Dominican Republic of Congo!

We can exchange stones? For example we have rough stone in the DR Congo such as malachite, not expensive and people can even exchange simple rocks from their garden. they are colorful and you can send a very small one. I believe nobody will refuse these exchanges..

Peace
Regine

We have sent her a scottish stone in the post. It only cost £2.50, which is pretty great value. If any exchangers want to take part in this pro… Continue
